Governor Reggie Wassana
I am honored to serve as Governor of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. Raised in the Deer Creek Indian Community near Weatherford, Oklahoma, I graduated from Weatherford High School in 1986. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Since taking office, my administration has delivered stability, growth, and accountability. From 2019 to 2022, we earned unmodified audit opinions—the highest rating possible—every year. We strengthened employment opportunities, maintained steady revenues through the pandemic, and put our Tribe on a stronger financial path.
Working alongside Lt. Governor Herschel Gorham, we have produced historic results:
- An increase in Per Capita distributions—including the largest in the past 15 years
- Passage of Ida’s Law, protecting Native women and families
- Recovery of $14 million in overdue oil & gas taxes owed to the Tribe
- Free vehicle tags for all tribal veterans and elders age 65 and older
- Gave elders additional funding for summer assistance, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
As federal budget cuts loom, we remain committed to protecting tribal sovereignty, creating opportunity, and securing our Tribe’s future. As I said in 2018, “We’ll work hard, work together, and get things done.” I humbly ask for your support to keep our progress moving forward.
